Denon® Announces Auro-3D® upgrade offer for Premium A/V Receivers

AVR-X4200W and AVR-X6200W to feature Auro-3D® multi-dimensional sound

Mahwah, NJ (March 29, 2016)– Denon, a leading manufacturer of premium home and personal audio products, announces a unique upgrade offer to bring three-dimensional audio format Auro-3D® to two recently introduced Premium A/V Receivers. Expected to be available March 29, 2016 a firmware upgrade (a fee is charged) will further enhance the feature set of the highly-acclaimed AVR-X4200W and the AVR-X6200W models.

By fully immersing the listener in a cocoon of life-like sound, Auro-3D® creates the sensation of actually ‘being there’. Thanks to a unique configuration of ‘Height channels’, acoustic reflections are generated and heard naturally due to the fact that sounds originate from around as well as above the listener. Depending on the size of the room, either 1 or 2 additional layers (HEIGHT and TOP – a.k.a. “Voice of God” channel) with speakers are mounted above the existing Surround layer at ear-level to produce Auro-3D®’s defining ‘vertical Stereo field’. The height information, captured in recording or created during the mixing process, is encoded into a standard 5.1 PCM stream that comes with a regular Blu-ray™. A Denon AVR containing the Auro-Codec® Decoder is capable of decoding the original Auro-3D® mix. Additionally, the Auro-Matic® upmixing engine allows existing collections of music and film soundtracks to be rendered in the acclaimed 3D sound.

“We are constantly striving to offer the best in new technologies to our customers. And by making this Auro-3D upgrade available, we are delivering upon our promise and commitment to our customers,” says Yoshinori Yamada, global business team leader audio and video at D+M Group.

“We are excited to see the Auro-3D format being integrated in even more consumer electronics, making the 3D Audio experience more widely available than before. Denon has always been a valued partner of ours and we trust their clients will be happy to see the offer extending,” states Wilfried Van Baelen, CEO of Auro Technologies.

The Denon upgrade service can easily be downloaded at home by owners of the AVR-X4200W or AVR-X6200W through the receiver’s built-in online feature upgrade function. More details to follow soon on the official Denon website.
