Fixstars Releases Software Encoder for Blu-ray 3D “Accelcoder X”

The simplest way to create Blu-ray 3D disc

October 19, 2011 — TOKYO — Fixstars today announced their release of the Accelcoder X, the professional H.264 software encoder compliant to Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D standards. With the ExpessAuthoring feature, Accelcoder X dramatically changes the workflow to create a Blu-ray 3D disc at a much lower price than ever before.

Accelcoder X is a Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D standards compliant H.264 encoding software designed for professional use. It provides a fast and full-featured Blu-ray encoding environment at a low cost. As well as the Express Authoring function that enables seamless Blu-ray/Blu-ray 3D disc creation, the newly built-in High quality encoding engine and Enhanced input format support accelerate the Blu-ray disc creation workflow dramatically.

The large-capacity of the Blu-ray disc is suitable as a packaged media, but it can also be used as a media for previews and promotions during the stages of high-quality 2D/3D video production. However, creating a Blu-ray disc requires 2 distinct procedures, which are encoding of the video, and authoring of the encoded data, requiring specialized knowledge, time, and equipment investment.

The ExpressAuthoring feature in Accelcoder X allows both the encoding and authoring processes to be performed seamlessly on a single machine. This means 2D or 3D output video can be written directly to a Blu-ray disc without the use of authoring software. ExpressAuthoring means you can create preview media and promotional videos, such as trailers or commercials, quickly and easily.

As input formats, commonly used formats in post-productions including QuickTime, Uncompressed AVI, and MPEG-4 AVC are supported. In addition, DPX and TIFF sequential files used in the process of filmmaking can be encoded as well.
