According to the statement, the new version of Roxio CinePlayer, which was unveiled last week at the CeBIT tradeshow in Hannover, Germany, is the first application to support the playback of true-3D content in a wide range of video file formats, as well as 3D DVDs and, as titles become available, 3D movies delivered digitally from Roxio CinemaNow-powered services. The application also offers the automatic, real-time conversion of existing 2D content to 3D, allowing 3D viewing of user’s existing library of standard DVDs and other video content such as personal home movies.
“With our latest systems delivering exceptional 3D and touch experiences, MSI continues to redefine the way consumers interact with digital media and information in their homes,” said Sophia Lin, All-in-One sales director, MSI. “Our collaboration with Roxio helps MSI deliver a compelling set of capabilities to consumers including high-impact 3D entertainment, while also providing a platform for future advancements such as digitally delivered premium 3D entertainment.”
Roxio CinePlayer is designed for easy integration into a broad range of hardware configurations, including both graphics cards and display technologies. This is a key advantage for personal computer manufacturers introducing 3D technologies across a range of models. To do this, Sonic has teamed with industry leaders including ATI, Intel, and NVIDIA to deliver support for both PC monitors (passive polarized and active shutter) and current and upcoming living room TVs.
“We feel strongly that 2010 will be a pivotal year for home 3D,” said Matt DiMaria, executive vice president and general manager, Roxio. “Roxio CinePlayer represents the first in a series of world class products and services from Roxio that will help make home 3D a mass market phenomenon.”
Roxio plans to release a number of products, technologies, and services in 2010 for PC OEMs, consumer electronics manufacturers, and retailers that will further the creation and enjoyment of 3D in the home. This includes leveraging its Roxio CinemaNow entertainment platform to provide consumers a convenient way to access and enjoy 3D movies from PCs as well as connected HDTVs and Blu-ray Disc (BD) players.
