According to the statement, designed for use in multimedia storage devices and set-top boxes, this new chip will enable consumers to enjoy their collection of DivX and DivX Plus HD videos, in the DivX format, directly on their TVs.
“Support of our latest DivX profile is accelerating and, thanks to IC licensees such as Realtek, we are fostering the development of DivX Plus HD Certified CE products,” said Kevin Hell, Chief Executive Officer at DivX. “These products enable playback of DivX, DivX HD and DivX Plus HD video on a variety of devices, from the PC to the TV.”
“DivX Certification is clearly recognized and valued by consumer electronic device manufacturers,” said Sam Chung at Realtek. “We are pleased to be one of the first IC providers to launch a DivX Plus HD Certified chip for the next generation of multimedia storage devices and set-top boxes.”
