A Leading STB Manufacturer in Europe Selects DivX® Technology to Deliver High-Quality Consumer Video Experience
London, (IP&TV World Forum) – 3/20/2012 – Sagemcom, a leading provider of set-top boxes in Europe, and Rovi Corporation (NASDAQ: ROVI) today announced that the Sagemcom BPRSI88-250 HD TNTSAT set-top box (STB) has integrated DivX Plus® HD, the premium level of DivX certification. The DivX Certified® STB is currently available in France and is the result of a DivX technology licensing agreement between Rovi and Sagemcom. Rovi will be demonstrating DivX Plus HD at IP&TV World Forum, March 20 to 22, 2012 (Stand 199).
“By achieving DivX Plus HD certification, Sagemcom’s STB is bringing more flexibility for consumers, who will be able to enjoy their personal content collections on their set-top box,” said Olivier Taravel, deputy CEO, Sagemcom. “In addition to experiencing high-quality video playback, the viewers can now benefit from the many special features enabled by DivX Plus HD such as smooth trick play, multiple audio tracks, and various subtitle options.”
Whether the content is on optical disc, USB drive, or streamed wirelessly between devices over a home network using DLNA, devices certified for the DivX Plus HD profile can easily play back personal and protected Hollywood entertainment in DivX (.divx and .avi) and DivX Plus HD (.mkv) formats. DivX Plus HD certification offers stunning visual quality and supports video resolutions up to 1080p. DivX Certified devices contain digital rights management technology to enable the secure playback of premium content in the DivX format, making it easy for consumers to enjoy video entertainment across an extensive, multi-manufacturer ecosystem of consumer electronics devices.
