SID Display Week 2011

LOS ANGELES–Samsung Electronics announced today that it won the Best In Show Award for Large Exhibits with its 70-inch UD 240Hz 3D technology at the Society for Information Display’s (SID) Display Week 2011 being held in the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The Society’s Best In Show Awards are awarded to the most significant new products and technologies shown on the Display Week exhibit floor in the three categories of small, medium and large exhibits.

“It’s an honor to win this very prestigious award, for such an innovative technology, especially when you consider those we were competing against,” said Jae Woo Park, Vice President, LCD Business, Samsung Electronics.

Samsung’s award recognizes the ultra definition (UD) resolution and a refresh rate of 240Hz on a 70-inch display prototype that is based on its oxide semiconductor TFT technology. It also recognizes the display’s immersive 3D images enhanced by Samsung’s differentiated technology and the UD resolution.

An independent panel of display experts reviewed the products, prototypes, and processes nominated for the awards on the show floor. A Blue Ribbon was presented to each winner at the SID Awards Luncheon yesterday. In addition, engraved bronze plaques will be provided to the three winners after Display Week.
