TDVision Systems and Sisvel announced that TDVision has granted Sisvel the exclusive rights to manage TDVision’s intellectual property portfolio of stereoscopic technology patents.
According to the statement, this portfolio includes key patents related to current digital video standards and video gaming technologies (Blu-ray, Satellite, Cable, IPTV, Mobile, Videogames, over-the-air signals), particularly in the North American marketplace.
“In 2003 we filed our IP for world-wide protection and the market has since evolved and adopted our 2D+Delta format within various standards and industry specifications,” said Manuel R. Gutierrez Novelo, CEO of TDVision Systems. “Sisvel has decades of licensing experience and a world-wide organization that will ensure that companies across the stereoscopic 3D Ecosystem will be able to license and use our IP more easily.”
TDVision’s patents include the 2D+Delta format, also known as TDVCodec and part of the “Multiview Video Coding” (MVC) codec (ISO-MPEG-14496-10:2008, Amendment 1), an extension to the ITU-T H.264 Advanced Video Coding (AVC) recently adopted by the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) as the Blu-ray 3D (Profile 5) specification.
“Working with TDVision Systems, we look forward to building a licensing program that reflects their substantial investment as early developers of 3D technology,” said General Richard Neal, President of Sisvel US. “In addition to the patents themselves, our 3D Licensing Program will provide straightforward access to TDVision’s advanced know-how and implementation experience.”
Terms and conditions of Sisvel’s new 3D Licensing Program with TDVision will be made available in the near future.
