No Blu-ray or DVD Playback for Nintendo Wii U

At an analyst Q&A session at E3 Expo 2011, Nintendo’s president Satoru Iwata said the company’s upcoming Wii U game console will not play Blu-ray or DVD video/audio discs.

Two Billion Blu-ray Discs by 2014

Futuresource Consulting announced it forecasts that over 400 million prerecorded (BD-ROM) Blu-ray video discs will be produced in 2010, rising to over two billion by 2014.
