Technicolor Launches New Cloud-Based Media Storage Service

Service Developed and Managed in Partnership with NetApp
2011 NAB Show

PARIS & HOLLYWOOD–Technicolor (Euronext Paris: TCH) today announced it has launched a new scalable, flexible and secure media storage solution, Technicolor Media Storage Service (TMSS), designed and managed by NetApp, a leading global enterprise storage and data management company.

“We are very pleased to announce this new storage service in partnership with NetApp,” said Chuck Parker, Technicolor’s Chief Commercial Officer. “Technicolor has long been trusted to preserve and protect the valued assets of its content-owner customers, and we are pleased to continually establish new services such as TMSS to support our customers through the digital transition.”

“NetApp is focused on diversifying its pathways by collaborating with world class service providers to deliver differentiated cloud solutions in important vertical markets,” said Julie Parrish, Vice President of Global Channel Sales, NetApp. “This new partnership combines Technicolor’s deep media industry experience with NetApp’s leading storage and data management capabilities to offer cloud solutions designed specifically to address media industry challenges. We are excited to be teaming with Technicolor to offer these solutions to customers.”

Technicolor’s Media Storage Service is optimized to support the unique needs of content owners, aggregators and distributors in the shift from physical to digital media. The new service provides “pay-as-you-go” pricing that allows customers to scale storage to meet demand fluctuations, and not over-invest in off-peak periods, thereby eliminating the need for capital expenditures. TMSS also helps users reduce administrative overhead and simplify IT operations by leveraging NetApp Professional Services experts to administer critical storage management tasks, allowing the customer to focus and invest resources in their core offerings.

With TMSS, customers can provision the storage they need in days instead of weeks, accelerating completion of critical projects. The service is integrated with MediAffinity, Technicolor’s digital content management platform. MediAffinity provides 24/7 access to customer files via a Web portal and allows customers to select whole or partial assets and initiate automated workflows to deliver what they need, when they need it. These media-optimized workflows allow efficient delivery of content to any point, in any format, accelerating productivity and further reducing time to market.

To protect critical assets, TMSS features content assurance by Technicolor, so customers know their content is secure, traceable and auditable. Client-defined data recovery implies customers can choose from a range of recovery service level agreements to meet their business needs. Flexible hosting options allow the customer to select whether to deploy TMMS on their premises or at one of Technicolor’s many secure data centers around the world.

Technicolor will be demonstrating this new solution in the NetApp booth (#SL11611) at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada April 11-14.
